Cleaner lines and a cleaner footprint with Selectaglaze’s new hinged secondary glazing system.
Back in 2008 Selectaglaze had the pleasure of working in this building which has unrivalled panoramic views overlooking the entire West End the 1960’s office tower block at 33 Cavendish Square is a familiar London landmark. It was also the first project to have the newly developed (back then) Series 41 hinged casement system.
Determined to ensure this iconic structure continued to embody the best of modern working environments and the highest standards of energy efficiency, its owners embarked on a programme of upgrading and refurbishing their offices with a brief for cleaner lines and a cleaner carbon footprint. Working closely with architects ORMS and main contractor ISG, a solution was developed to meet both criteria.
The Series 41 sealed unit secondary glazing
Then, in order to maximise the thermal insulation properties of the installation, the standard Series 41 profile was designed to accept sealed unit glazing, effectively providing triple glazing. U-values for this unit are 1.7W/M2K – far exceeding the requirements of part L of the Building Regulations.
The building will also benefit from the extremely high levels of acoustic insulation, thus keeping at bay the constant noise of this busy central London location.
Over 200 Series 41 units – most of which are double side hung casements – were installed across many of the building’s twenty floors.
